Project Prime Mover: National Inquiry on Robotics and Physical AI for the Energy and Manufacturing Base
The Department seeks input from industry, academia, labor, and the investment community to inform potential Departmental actions on robotics and physical AI across the energy and manufacturing sectors — where robots are already in service at power plants and substations and autonomy is moving up the stack into building solar farms, repairing turbine blades, drilling wells, mining critical minerals, and running materials-discovery labs. Responses will inform a public report and a technology-and-deployment roadmap covering applications, deployment barriers, workforce, supply chains, and research-and-development priorities. This inquiry would not commit the Department to any action and is not a funding solicitation.
